Meet the team

Stacey McSheffrey, Registered Massage Therapist

I attended the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy, in Toronto, and completed my studies at Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy. Early in my career, I pursued a personal interest in biological sciences at Ryerson University, realizing I had a passion for scientific approaches to personal health and wellness, and leading me into Massage Therapy. An avid runner and soccer player, I have first-hand experience with injuries and prevention pertaining to these sports. During my time at school, I focused on outreaches and clinic placement in hospital settings, working with patients with disabling injuries due to stroke, head trauma, illness, or age-related health conditions. I also received additional workshop and hospital placement training working directly with high-risk pregnancy.

The services I offer include general Swedish massage, fascial release techniques, joint mobilization, trigger point release, and stretching, to generally help prevent injuries, rehabilitate myofascial pain, and decrease stress and anxiety. I am also interested in the potential use of massage therapy to treat insomnia and other sleep disorders. My goals are always to both treat and prevent.

I bring passion and focus to every treatment, recognizing that every context, case and individual requires unique consideration.

Areas of focus:

Stretch Therapy Release (Frederick Stretch Therapy)

Temporomandibular Dysfunction

Deep Tissue Massage

Chronic Injury Rehabilitation

Myofascial Release

Trigger Point Release

Joint Mobilization

Prenatal/Postnatal Massage

Breast Massage

Cupping

Leighanne (Susan) Strain, Registered Massage Therapist

As a registered massage therapist and a graduate of Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy—I am happy to offer massage for general relaxation.

My strength lies in Myofascial Release (JFB MFR) as taught by John F. Barnes, PT.

I began my journey with JFB MFR in 2019 and I have completed six courses with John.

I believe strongly in the body’s innate healing abilities. It has become more common in health care to hear the word “trauma” used to describe a wide range of experiences. Traumas, whether physical or emotional, can leave the body on high alert, unable to rest and heal. The stresses of everyday life add to this tension. This can lead to symptoms such as insomnia, chronic pain, lowered immunity and low vitality; eventually leading to diagnoses such as fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, depression, chronic fatigue syndrome, etc.  Most often no cause can be found, and patients are only offered treatment for their symptoms.

Myofascial Release has the potential to bring awareness to the holding patterns of tension caused by these traumas giving you the option to let it go and allow your body to truly heal. Gentle pressure or traction is applied throughout the body to release restrictions, often far from the location you may be feeling discomfort. Fascia is a continuous web of connective tissue and restrictions can reach deep into the body.

I have experience treating acute and chronic injuries, chronic pain conditions, neurological disorders, depression, scars, headaches, breast concerns, GERD, sleep apnea, scoliosis, vertigo, and many other issues.

I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.
